Atomsphere and Weather

Every living creature, animal or vegetable, on this great planet of ours, that we call earth, is at the mercy of the weather. Sometimes this force of nature is kind but at other times it is brutal.

Flooding, Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Heatwaves and more can all be devastating. The destruction caused by just one day's excessive rainfall can be unbelievable.

Gone are the days of inaccurate weather forecasting though, as forecasters embrace all of the 21st Century technology available for them to use. Sometimes our weather forecasters may still not be 100% accurate but they are so much better than they used to be.

In the past there were many old wives tales, strange sayings and adages that related to forecasting the weather. Country folk would check to see if pine cones were open or closed, for example. Perhaps some still do, but they no longer have to.

Helium.com's Atmosphere and Weather Channel offers some of the best articles around, that will help explain and discuss issues, and detail facts, regarding the natural phenomenon of our weather and atmosphere.

Thank-you Gulrukh. My geography school days were brief as the subject clashed with German and I could not study both. I may have to pick your brains:)

What a wonderful World

Perhaps, like myself and most people, you feel that you are no scientist and know little regarding this planet's atmosphere and its weather?. However, we all tend to have an opinion about the weather. Usually one that changes on a daily basis. Personally I am fascinated by the sky, its magnificence and so often its beauty. When we consider this world, our location in the heavens, and more, it is easy to see that anything is possible.

Hurricane and weather chasers take this fascination a step further. In a desire to experience what they already understand they often risk their lives for that extra thrill. To be as near as possible to a hurricane is not an ambition that sits well with me, although I can understand the appeal to some.

The whole subject of atmosphere and weather is vast, with explanations available for much of what we see but do not understand, yet.
